Me and my sister stayed here over the weekend- we travelled from Glasgow on the Thursday night and arrived in Shrewsbury at 7am on the Friday- at half 11 we called to try our luck and see if we could check in as check In was 3pm and we where exhausted, got told to call back at 2pm but within 10 minutes of hanging the phone up we was called to say our room was ready, greeted with Amanda at the front door and shown to our room! A few bits wrong in the room I.e our sink was cracked and the curtain rail wasn’t in the wall properly. We could still use the sink and still able to close the curtains. I must say though the bed was the comfiest bed I think I’ve ever had in a hotel and the pressure of the shower was fantastic! Will be back next year

Calm and collective atmosphere. Great selection of bottled and canned craft beers. Big thank you to the lovely lady behind the bar for her help picking out some beers! Definitely returning when I'm back in Shrewsbury.

This place has recently been refurbished and taken more upmarket without overdoing it. Beer was pricy but good. Large selection of gins and cocktails which I don't drink. Bar staff friendly but service can be slow whilst they are mixing cocktails.

The bar is nice with an amazing variety of gins. The staff are knowledgeable and chatty. The decor is cosy and comfortable. There is a bit of a smell in the corridor to the toilets and the toilets themselves, however.

I only stayed for one night as a solo traveller & found my the hotel very good. The room was clean & tidy. The bed was very comfortable & I experienced a very good nights sleep. Even though this is a pub with rooms, I couldn't hear any noise from the bar in my room. My room also over looked a very busy traffic lights cross roads which served as the exit from Shrewsbury Station. I decided to wait & see if it was going to disturb me before I did anything. Well, I needn't have worried about it because I couldn't hear anything. I took this to indicate that the double glazed window did its job. Not sure how it would be in Summer if you needed to open a window. Don't know if there is air conditioning or whether they might provide a good fan. They didn't have a dedicated reception area or check in desk. This meant I had to check in/register in the main bar, & although I didn't mind this other solo female travellers may not like this. However, even though the bar was extremely busy (I stayed here 9 days before Christmas), I waited less than 5 minutes to be seen. I was in my room in less than 10 minutes. The young lady who showed me to my room insisted that she carried my very big suitcase (full of presents for my 1 year old granddaughter). My only issue was no breakfast. I knew this at the time of booking. My main criterior for booking my stay was its close proximity to the station. Overall I had a pleasant stay.

A bar celebrating the very best in British craft beer, Shrewsbury has been crying out for something like this for a few years. There are some great looking bottles of gin on the menu also.

Great little place, almost don't want to review it as I really enjoy that it's not terribly busy. Over 100 gins, a large selection of craft beers and guests ales on draft which are all lovely. A little gem of Shrewsbury!

Excellent value for money. Easy location for town centre. Free WiFi but TV reception in room intermittent. Would recommend for stays of up to a week, longer than that facilities may be lacking.
